Wāstaway® and Alpine Energy Group will join the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) and the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (VIWAPA), co-hosts for the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Conference, in featuring their recently announced energy from waste project. The US Virgin Islands recently signed an agreement to use Wāstaway technology to transform the island’s municipal solid waste into fuel to operate 16 MW and 33 MW power plants by 2012.
The annual week-long event is promoted as a week of shared information, thought‐provoking discussions, spirited interaction, and exciting technical and cultural tours and events. The conference is the single largest assembly of water and waste resources professionals and executives in the Caribbean. The event also provides the opportunity for vendors to exhibit technologies and services.
The 18th Annual Caribbean Water and Wastewater Conference and Exhibition to be held from October 4‐10, 2009 in the capital city of Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. The co-hosts for this year’s conference are the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority (VIWMA) and the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (VIWAPA) in conjunction with the Government of the Virgin Island’s Office of the Governor and Department of Tourism and the University of the Virgin Islands.
